I am a beginner RC Plane builder and have access to a laser at my school, the issue is the laser requires the PDF to have the lines set to certain colors in order for it to identify what it is cutting / engraving, and they happen to be the reverse of whats used on the plans. We Use Adobe Illustrator for preparing our items for cutting, but because the file is downloaded it shows up as linked. The laser I have access to is an Universal Laser System 60w. Any advice on how to bypass the linked file or to change the laser color identification is greatly welcomed. Thanks for helping.
Yes, in illustrator you can select the lines and change the color. Since all FT plans are vectored PDFs you should have no issues opening them in illustrator and selecting the lines. It may take some time to do this but its possible.
I Open the pdf, create a new document with the size of my foamboard, and cut n paste. To select all lines in one color, I use the magic wand, change mode to stroke, it is deafault on fill, and select a color, and then change it.
Those pre done plans are gold. I just did a ton of work getting a bunch of the new planes ready to cut. I will be adding what I have this evening when I find my usb with the final edits on them. The new format on the planes is much better, but I have had issues with the dashed 50% lines. I have to delete and connect the ends to get a solid line that my cutter likes. Some of the old ones are strange because they have double lines and the sort. Have you done the blunt nose versa conversion. I haven''ll remind you.
